Our 1st annual war
birds over Hurlock started on a warm windy beautiful morning
with threatening clouds in the distance. We had a good turn
out even though the winds were blowing a gale. There about
25 pilots that braved the wind and brought their planes to
display and some even flew.( I was not one of the brave. I
was chicken!!) The spectators, approximately 200, seemed to
enjoy the day of food and flying and even got evolved in the
judging. We sold 230 plane raffle tickets and made $950.00
for the club from this. We also had a 50-50 that we cleared
$52.00 from. The food made the club about $295.00. All in
all we made a good profit for the club.
The 50-50 was won by Eric who then turned around and
bought more tickets for the plane raffle.( Thanks Eric).
The plane raffle was won by no other than little Jack
( surprise! That kid is sooo lucky) I hear through the grape
vine that he's trying to sell it to Dad now! I think since
Jack Jr. knows how to fly that he should get his butt down
to the field and start flying again.
We had 4 trophies to give away. 3 were for peoples
choice and 1 was for best in show voted on by your fellow
pilots.
1st place in peoples choice went to Bob Snead for his
B-25
2nd place went to Bob Snead for his P-38
3rd place went to Jack (mother) Rosemere for his
Mentor.
The best in show trophy went to Bob Snead for his B-25. (
What a gorgeous plane and well deserved trophy!!) Needless
to say everyone will be gunning for Bob next year.
I think that the day in all was a success. The rain
held off, the winds kept blowing but everyone stayed and had
fun.
I personally want to Thank everyone in the club for
all that you did that day and will continue to do to keep
this club going!
